Last Week:As we noted, rates moved up again on a combination of technical factors and the fact that money flowed from bonds to stocks throughout the week.This Week:The Fed Minutes (Wed) and GDP numbers (Thurs) will hold the markets attention early on, but we expect Friday’s PCE (personal consumption expenditure) index - the Fed’s favorite yardstick for inflation - and employment report to be the numbers with the most market moving potential. The Center for Statistical Research Inc. released a research report disputing the findings of another report from the Center for Responsible Lending. The consumer group claims subprime lending expanded at the benefit of mortgage insiders and has stirred more trouble than help for borrowers. But Tcsr does not hold the subprime market responsible for foreclosures and is concerned that legislation brought on by the crisis view could further curtail subprime credit availability. (more…)
